Boost your creativity with the right adjustments!

A misaligned spine interferes with the nervous system’s ability to function. If your nervous system is functioning optimally, you can think creatively. It’s that simple. An adjustment reduces anxiety. It also increases the blood flow to the brain, making you think clearer. When your nervous system is performing as it should you also will likely be in a better mood and enjoy enhanced emotional well-being.

According to Shawn Achor’s book The Happiness Advantage, there aremultiple studies that reveal that being happy leads to improved performance on creative assignments than either stressed or neutral states.

The Fascinating Results of a Study

A pilot study on the effects of chiropractic on creativity was published in the June 2010 edition of the Chiropractic Journal of Australia.

The study involved 10 subjects between 10 and 62. Nine out of ten were involved in a real-world task. The task required some type of creative thinking at the time. Seven of the subjects were also experiencing various musculoskeletal symptoms. Three subjects indicated they had some stress-related symptoms at the time of the study.

This study evaluated creative abilities before and after getting a chiropractic adjustment. As part of the test, the participant was asked to write down as many uses for a specific object as possible in just 10 minutes. An example would be to list all the different ways a person could use a magazine, table or hat.

Each participant performed this test at the beginning of the study. Then, everyone’s spine was assessed to determine if a subluxation was present. A subluxation is a condition that puts pressure on the nerves. That pressure then interferes with nervous system functioning. Following the subluxation evaluation, most of the subjects received cervical and thoracic adjustments. Some participants were also given jaw, upper extremity and lumbar adjustments.

Following the adjustment, the subjects performed the test again to name as many uses as possible for a specific object. Then, in follow-up interviews, six of the 10 participants experienced a meaningful post-adjustment improvement in their test performance. Seven participants described identifying new directions in a real-world creative task. Six declared that they had renewed energy towards a creative project they were working on. None of the study participants said they noticed diminished energy or creative thinking since the adjustment.
